Enrollment
Thank you for your interest in University Montessori School. Families wishing to explore the possibility of
enrolling their child at University Montessori School should call the director at 434-977-0583 to set up an appointment
to visit the school beginning in late September.
Ideally both parents should attend to meet with the director and observe in each of the two classrooms. These meetings are
best done at 9:30 am Monday through Thursday. Parents should plan on approximately an hour for the visit. We
ask that children not be brought to the visit in order that the parents can focus on the meeting and the observations.
UMS enrolls a learning community balanced by age, diversity, and gender. The child's length of day is also
considered as space in the nap room is limited. Siblings of children who are currently enrolled at UMS or who are
alumni that have completed the three year cycle are given preference. Enrollment visits begin in the fall before the
year of enrollment. Re-enrollment contracts for children currently enrolled who are expected back for their second
or third year are due on February 1. Enrollment offers for new families begin soon after that and enrollment visits
and offers continue until a balanced community of learners is in place.

mail it with the $25 application fee to UMS. We will contact you upon receipt of your
application.
